Fond Memories

Bridget (Babs) Rudden Drumcor, Redhills Co.Cavan

Passed away October 30th 2015. [Image: James Fennell, Vanishing Ireland]

It is with great sorrow that we lost a dear soul at the end of October. The late Bridget Rudden, known to us all as 'Babs' passed away in the early hours of Fri surrounded by her cousins & of course her friends here at Oak View Nursing Home.

Born in 1923 in the Cavan townland of Drumcor, although the eldest of four children, ironically she was known as 'Baby' before becoming better known as Babs to her dear friends, neighbours & family. Babs was a true Cavan lady born & bred, leaving school at a young age, living & working on the home-farm right up until she joined us here at Oak View where she retained her colourful character into her 90's & was loved by all the staff.

Always one to enjoy company, Babs was reknowned for 'holding court' at many a ceilidh at home & enjoyed laughs with the nursing staff & other residents while in our care. She even had her own 'fame' when she was featured in a profile & on a cover of the "Vanishing Ireland" series of books. She truly represented a bygone era that we will never see the like of again & she will be sorely missed by her remaining family, her friends, neighbours & not least, by all of us here at Oak View Nursing Home who had the priviledge of knowing her, caring for her & spending her last days with her.

May you Rest In Peace Babs.
